Frequently Asked Questions
Our grade calculator works by allowing you to input each component of your course (assignments, exams, etc.) along with their respective weights and your scores. The calculator then computes your final grade based on these inputs. You can add as many components as needed, and the calculator will automatically calculate the weighted average to determine your final grade and corresponding letter grade based on the selected grading scale.
Our grade calculator supports multiple grading scales. The default is the Standard scale (A=90%, B=80%, C=70%, D=60%), but we also support the Plus/Minus scale (A=93%, A-=90%, B+=87%, etc.) and a Custom scale where you can define your own percentage thresholds for each letter grade. This flexibility allows the calculator to adapt to almost any grading system used by educational institutions.
To calculate what you need on your final exam, first enter all your completed coursework with their weights and scores. Then add your final exam as a component with its weight but leave the score blank. The calculator will show you what score you need on the final exam to achieve your desired overall grade. This feature is particularly useful for goal-setting and understanding what’s required to reach a specific grade target.
Currently, our grade calculator doesn’t have a built-in save function, but you can easily save your calculations by taking a screenshot or printing the results page. For students who need to track multiple courses throughout a semester, we recommend calculating each course separately and saving the results for reference. We’re working on adding a save feature in future updates.
Our grade calculator is designed to be highly accurate and flexible. With the custom grading scale option, it can adapt to almost any grading system used by educational institutions. However, it’s always a good idea to double-check with your instructor or syllabus to ensure you’re using the correct grading scale and weights for your specific course. The calculator provides estimates based on the information you provide, but final grades are always determined by your instructor.
