Round this number to the nearest whole number, then divide the total rise by this number to get the actual rise per step. For example, if your total rise is 108 inches and you want a 7-inch rise per step, you would need 15.43 steps, which rounds to 15 steps. The actual rise per step would then be 108 ÷ 15 = 7.2 inches.
